You must be licensed through your state Dept. of Insurance, and through any insurance company you are selling for.
There is one exception in some states. That is, if you are selling a service membership plan, such as an auto towing membership plan, which has accidental death and hospital benefits attached to the plan.
This attachment IS actually insurance, but is not considered insurance when attached to an automobile club membership.
